According to a press release by Italy’s Eni, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, and Eni’s  Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Descalzi, met in Cairo to discuss Eni’s activities in the country.

During the meeting,  Descalzi presented to Sisi the development plan for the Zohr field, where both parties confirmed the joint commitment to accelerate the production start-up of the field.

Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of setting up a gas hub in the eastern Mediterranean Sea aimed at making the Egyptian transport and export facilities also available for the nearby discoveries.

Both parties have met last month, a few hours prior to the announcement of the mega gas discovery.
