France’s Schneider Electric (SE), the energy management and automation multinational corporation, has announced that it has signed an in-kind gift agreement with the American University in Cairo (AUC) to provide advanced solar energy solutions to help develop local communities in Egypt, reported Daily News Egypt.
The French company aims to provide the university’s Research Institute for a Sustainable Environment (RISE), that works on providing innovative energy schemes to local communities in Wadi El Gemal and Abu Ghusun in Marsa Alam, with solar energy solutions, according to MENA Financial Network.
The source explained that these projects include installing one fully automatic solar powered water pumping system named ‘Water of the Sun’ system; it can pump water for up to a 20m distance. In addition, fifty lighting systems named ‘Mobiya Solar Lights’ that are specifically designed for remote and off-grid areas will also be installed. These light systems only require 8 hours of solar charging to operate for 48 continuous hours.
