Saudi Acwa Signs Deal for Jordan’s Independent Power Plant

Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power has signed a power purchase agreement for 25 years with Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (Nepco) for the 485MW Hussein CCGT independent power project located in the Zarqa industrial area, reported Trade Arabia. The project enjoys a total investment cost of $460m.

While the Central Electricity Generating Company of Jordan will undertake operations and maintenance for the project, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract will go to the Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation III.

The project will utilize GE Energy’s 9E turbines, use natural gas as the primary fuel, leaving light diesel oil as the secondary fuel, according to Gulf Digital News.
