The significance of these discoveries goes far beyond the size of the new structures and the fact that significant flow in the Lower Devonian level was established because they will also support the future development plans for the area.
RWE Dea has a stake of 22.5 % in this concession area. Repsol operates the consortium with a 33.75% stake, Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach controls 25%; and Italy’s Edison has a 18.75% stake. The exploration rights to these blocks were awarded during the 2002/2003 Algerian bidding rounds. During 2005-2007, three discoveries were made in Reggane: Sali-1 (SLI-1), Kahlouche-2 (KL-2) and the Reggane-6 (RG-6), one exploration well in Upper Ordovician, plus two positive appraisal wells.
