Qatar Petroleum has officially joined the Extractive Industries Initiative (EITI) as a supporting firm, to become the first national oil company in the Middle East to join this organization that promotes open and accountable management of oil, gas, and mineral resources, citing Russia Today (RT) website.

The Minister of Energy Affairs and Qatar Petroleum’s Managing Director and CEO, Saad Al Kaabi, expressed his full support of the EITI membership, saying: “As our operating foot print expands beyond the state of Qatar, it is important that we are known as an open and trustworthy organization.”
