Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker and the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla to review the process of maximizing the renewable energy role during the upcoming period.
Madbouly affirmed that the transition to renewable energy is a priority for Egyptian government as the country has great capabilities to produce renewable energy.
During the meeting, Shaker showcased the Integrated and Sustainable Energy Strategy 20235 which was prepared in cooperation between the two ministries and European Union in 2015 and how to be updated until 2040.
He elaborated that this strategy is based on four pillars, including energy security, sustainability, governance, and competition and it aims to increase renewable energy contribution to the energy mix to 42% by 2035.
