Petrotrade’s Industrial Gas Bill Collections Surge 16% in 2025

The Petroleum Trading Services Company (Petrotrade), a subsidiary of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), recorded a 16% growth in natural gas consumption bill collections from major industrial consumers during fiscal year (FY) 2025 compared to the previous year. Wassem Wahdan, the company’s Chairman, reported the figures during the General Assembly convened to review 2025 fiscal results, noting that the company also finalized settlements for the electricity sector.

In the residential and commercial sectors, Wahdan reported that the customer base exceeded 10 million, an increase of approximately 300,000 customers over the previous year. This expansion, encompassing both mechanical and prepaid meter users, yielded a 35% growth in collection rates during the same period, driven by enhanced operational procedures.

Beyond collection services, Petrotrade reported a 25% increase in sales within its environmental and waste management activities, specifically in used-oil recycling and marine waste treatment. The company aims to support Egypt’s transition toward “green ports” by 2030 through its presence at all maritime ports.

The meeting was attended by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, who emphasized Petrotrade’s pivotal role in securing state dues across industrial, commercial, and household sectors. Minister Badawi praised the company’s digital transformation efforts, which facilitate streamlined services for millions of citizens.

To further digital integration, Wahdan announced the upcoming launch of the “Petro Smart” mobile application on Android and iOS platforms. The app will enable digital bill payments, meter reading submissions, and prepaid meter charging. Furthermore, the company is preparing to implement the Systems, Applications, & Products in Data Processing (SAP) system in 2026 to bolster internal operational efficiency.

Additionally, Petrotrade bolstered its marketing activities by promoting chemical products, detergents, and lubricants for sector partners, including Misr Petroleum, Alexandria Company for Petroleum Additives (ACPA), and Cargas. The company also inaugurated a new detergent production line in collaboration with the Nile Detergents Company.

Petrotrade functions as the commercial arm of the state’s natural gas sector. The company is responsible for the billing, collection, and customer service management of natural gas consumption across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Beyond its core collection activities, the company provides essential support services, including the marketing of petroleum-based products like lubricants and detergents, and manages specialized environmental services such as marine waste treatment and used-oil recycling.
