PetroNefertiti, a subsidiary of South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE), has discovered oil and gas at the Lorcan-6 exploration well in the North Geisum concession near Gebel El Zeit in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, according to a statement by the petroleum ministry on October 30.

The statement said that tests at Lorcan-6 indicated production of 1,500 bbl/d of crude oil and 8 MMcf/d of associated gas.

The well will be connected to production after the completion of testing and the necessary technical procedures.

Exploration activities in PetroNefertiti’s concession are being carried out with investments from Dana Petroleum and the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC).

The company is continuing to update geological data and maps and analyse test results to identify opportunities for drilling additional wells and maximise the area’s hydrocarbon potential.
