Tarek El Molla, the Minister of Petroleum, announced that the natural gas grid reached around 4 million housing units during the last five years, reaching a total of 10 million units across Egypt, according to the Petroleum Ministry Gate.
El Molla stated that the sector linked natural gas to 1.23 million housing units across Egypt last year while prioritizing Upper Egypt, adding that there is a plan currently being implemented to provide natural gas to another 1.2 million housing units in more than 85 cities and regions in Giza, Sharqia, El Beheira, Kafr El-Shaikh, Damietta, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Qalyubia, Qena and Luxor.
El Molla said that the natural gas grid project is being carried out by the petroleum sector’s companies along with the private sector’s, emphasizing the importance of the continuous follow up to reach the highest rate of housing units.
