Petrofac has inaugurated a construction skills training center in Algeria, following the completion of a program to upgrade the center’s facilities, according to a press release.
The center, located in Hassi Messaoud, will provide training for the Algerian oil and gas industry workforce with a capacity to train up to 400 delegates every year.
“We are delighted to mark the re-launch and modernization of this important facility which will deliver best-in-class technical training for the young people of Algeria. The first group of 45 trainees are now developing vital construction skills at the center,” said the company’s Senior Vice President for North Africa, Graham Mac Millan.
The Center’s facilities include classrooms and large open workshops. The syllabus covers instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, pipework and welding, with an emphasis on health and safety, through an applied training methodology that provide the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills.
“Training enables Petrofac to transfer the company’s deep knowledge and experience in key trades to the local supply chain, which consequently improves the safety and quality of our own projects and of those throughout Algeria.” Mac Millan added.
