China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), PetroChina’s parent company, announced that it acquired a high gas flow at a well in Tarim oilfield.

Currently, the oilfield’s annual production capacity is 20 billion cubic meters and the well produces 60,000 cubic meters of gas per day, CNPC added. PetroChina produced 18.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas at Tarim in 2009, up 700 million cubic meters from the previous year, accounting for around 25 percent of the country’s total gas output.

It’s worth mentioning that CNPC previously stated that Tarim oilfield’s newly added proven gas reserves reached 136.5 million cubic meters in 2009, which made its total proven reserves hit 1.14 trillion cubic meters.
