The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has urged Nigeria to sustain its ongoing energy reforms in order to succeed in transforming the country. Secretary General of OPEC, Dr. Mohammed Barkindo, made these remarks at a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, affirming that Nigeria has no other alternative to the oil, gas, and power sectors, Daily Post reported.
Barkindo also stressed that the reform must be sustained by ensuring continuity in policy implementation, saying: “There is no alternative to these reforms. The bane in the past has been lack of continuity of policies and programs.”
According to The Nation, the Secretary General expressed his optimism over the efforts made by OPEC member countries to overcome the hardships facing the energy sector worldwide, and urged them to remain united to face these challenges.
