Oman Sees 5.1% Drop in Oil Production, 4.9% Rise in Natural Gas Imports, Production in 2024

Oman reported a 308,422,100 barrels of oil exports by the end of December 2024, a slight drop from 310,331,200 barrels recorded in the same period last year, according to Oman news agency.

The country reached total oil production of 363,288,500 barrels at the end of December 2024, a 5.1% drop from 382,770,200 barrels in 2023.

The crude oil production was 278,019,200 barrels, while condensate production amounted to 85,269,300 barrels.

Notably, China led the list of countries importing oil from Oman, with total exports reaching 289,216,800 barrels, an increase of 1.3% from the end of December 2023. South Korea followed with 5,769,700 barrels, up by 10.6%, then Japan with 5,656,600 barrels, down by 39.7%, and India with 3,004,000 barrels, up by 10.6%.

On the other hand, Oman’s total domestic production and import of natural gas reached 56,542,400 billion cubic meters (bcm) by the end of December 2024, marking a 4.9% increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at 53,925 bcm.

The non-associated natural gas Production, including imports, amounted to 44,926,200 bcm, while associated natural gas production reached 11,616,200 bcm.

Oman’ natural gas consumption varied across the sector in 2024 with industrial projects accounting for the largest portion by 51.3% that amounted to 29,54,100 bcm. The oil fields utilized 12,130,100 bcm of natural gas, while power generation stations used 15,106,800 bcm. Additionally, industrial areas consumed 251,400 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas.
