Nigerian New Militants Attack Elf Oil Pipelines

Nigerian new militant group, the Red Scorpion, has claimed responsibility for the blowing up of two pipelines belonging to Elf Oil Company in Awara in Ohaji Egbema Council, Area of Imo State, reported The Sun News.

In a post on their Facebook, the militants, had threatened to blow up the Shell Pipelines in Oguta, saying that it should not be taken as an idle threat as they have the capability to carry it out.

Additionally, they warned that until the oil producing areas in the state are given their due, the oil companies operating in the areas will know no peace, according to Tori.ng.

Meanwhile, some of the ex-militants from the area, who confirmed the existence of the new group, said they were not part of the renewed militancy.

Earlier, the Niger Delta Avengers group has claimed responsibility for blowing up an NNPC-owned pipeline, which required the government to shut off the pipeline in efforts to contain the gas leak caused by an explosion.
