New CSR Initiative: ANOPC and Al-Orman Association to Produce Biogas from Organic Waste in Assiut

Within the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, a protocol has been signed for the implementation of an economic empowerment project and the production of biogas and organic fertilizer between Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC) and Al-Orman Association.

The project is set to be implemented in the villages surrounding the diesel production complex in Assiut. The biogas project comes within the framework of environmental conservation, which is a fundamental pillar of the Ministry’s strategy.

According to the protocol, the project includes the production of energy from the safe disposal of waste and livestock manure in an economical and environmentally safe manner, by converting decomposed organic materials into a gas consisting of hydrogen and carbon found in organic waste such as agricultural, industrial and human waste.

The project also achieves economic returns by providing biogas as an alternative to butane gas cylinders.

The protocol was signed by Mohamed Badr El Din, ANOPC Chairman, and Mamdouh Shaaban, General Director of the Orman Association.
