Nasr Petroleum Company (NPC) processed around 1.5 million tons (mmt) of crude oil and increased gasoline production to approximately 637,000 tons during fiscal year (FY) 2025/26, up from 51,000 tons in the previous fiscal year, Chairman Rashad Nazim said.
This came during the general assembly meeting of the company chaired by Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Diesel production also increased by 40.6% to around 329,000 tons, compared with FY 2024/25. reflecting the company’s efforts to improve refinery efficiency and optimize its petroleum product mix.
Nazim noted that NPC achieved its targeted crude processing volume while enhancing the operational efficiency of its processing units and improving the balance of petroleum products.
The company is implementing a number of development projects to enhance its operational capabilities, including the development of the seawater desalination unit and asphalt handling facilities.
NPC is also upgrading its early-warning and automatic firefighting systems, alongside implementing process safety and asset integrity programs. The company is further working to improve the efficiency of its furnaces and boilers as part of efforts to optimize energy consumption and strengthen operational performance.
On energy efficiency, Nazim said the company’s projects generated annual natural gas savings valued at around $355,000, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 4,268 tons.
Meanwhile, NPC’s 1.2-megawatt (MW) solar power plant has entered the commissioning trial phase, supporting the company’s efforts to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce its environmental footprint.
The projects form part of NPC’s broader strategy to modernize its refining facilities, improve operational efficiency, enhance energy performance, and support the petroleum sector’s efforts to reduce emissions
In October 2025, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the gas recovery project at Nasr Petroleum Company (NPC)’s refinery in Suez Governorate with a cost of EGP 1.1 billion and implemented through PETROJET company.
NPC is one of Egypt’s state-owned oil refining companies. Established in 1911, it operates the Suez refinery complex and specializes in refining crude oil into petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, and asphalt. It is affiliated with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and plays an important role in supplying petroleum products to the domestic market.
