The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), under the sponsorship of its Undersecretary for Exploration Samir Raslan, organized two workshops to share exploration success stories in the Western Desert and the Gulf of Suez regions.
During the workshps, Raslan stressed the necessity of cooperation between companies and the keenness to exchange experiences to achieve new discoveries by using modern technologies in seismic survey operations and expanding the deepening of wells in addition to drilling horizontal wells and re-evaluating old reservoirs, especially unconventional ones that were not previously visible. He highlighted that this will contribute to increase added reserves and enhance production rates.
Raslan added that expanding the use of artificial intelligence in analyzing geological and geophysical data helps increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the accuracy of results in identifying areas with high potential for exploration, especially in traditional reservoirs and brownfields.
During the two workshops, the companies reviewed the success stories achieved and the results of using modern technology in seismic survey operations and using artificial intelligence in data analysis. The companies also reviewed future plans and promising opportunities in the field of exploration.
At the end of the meeting, Raslan praised the companies’ efforts in ensuring new discoveries and increasing production from their fields. He expressed hope that additional discoveries can be made to add to the current production of oil and gas.
