McDermott International was awarded a large engineering and procurement contract from Azikel Petroleum for the modular 12,000 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d) Hydro-Skimming Refinery project in Nigeria, according to a press release.
The contract includes the detailed engineering and design of the inside battery limits (ISBL) modular refinery, as well as supplying equipment and all tagged items within the ISBL.
“McDermott has been an integral part of what is one of the few refineries to be built in Nigeria and we look forward to expanding our presence further by delivering the next phase of this important project,” said Tareq Kawash, Senior Vice President for EMEA.
The early work on the project includes the construction of the administrative, maintenance, and terminal operator buildings as well as the erection of the feedstock tanks. The pier will be used for the delivery of the refinery modules and other equipment.
McDermott has been cooperating with Azikel Petroleum since 2018. The awarded contract for this project will be reflected in McDermott’s Q2 2020 backlog.
