Madbouly Reviews Fuel Supply and Renewable Energy Strategies with Petroleum and Electricity Ministers

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has met with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat to review the status of fuel supplies needed for the operation of the electricity stations and increasing the renewable energy contribution to the energy mix.

Mohamed El-Homsani, the Spokesman of the Cabinet stated that the coordination between the two ministries was highlighted in order to keep providing the necessary fuels for operating electricity stations.

Also, they stressed the necessity of the Petroleum Ministry’s coordination with the foreign partners and encourage them to pump more investments, with the aim to increase the production of crude oil and gas.

Additionally, the parties discussed the status of efforts to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the electricity mix, which will be pumped into the national grid until next summer considering the strategy of diversifying sources of electricity production and benefiting from Egypt’s natural resources.

At the same time, the meeting referred to the major role played by the private sector in renewable energy projects as a major partner in this field, in addition to reviewing the efforts made to increase the participation of local and foreign private investments in clean energy projects.
