Madbouly Meets Investors to Drive Mining Sector Growth

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a roundtable with local and international mining companies and financial institutions to discuss developing the country’s mining sector, improving infrastructure, and strengthening investor confidence.

The meeting was held as part of the fifth Egypt Mining Forum (EMF) 2026, under the theme “From Discovery to Industrial Development: Building Investor Confidence Across Egypt’s Mining Value Chain.”

The government’s current priority is to translate the forum’s outcomes into on-the-ground projects, Madbouly said, adding that it is prepared to offer incentives and facilities and enter into partnerships to accelerate projects toward production. It is focusing on exploring Egypt’s geological potential and linking mineral resources with markets, industry, energy, and infrastructure, said the prime minister.

Roundtable participants cited geological potential, infrastructure, policy sustainability, and agile government cooperation as critical investment catalysts.

Developing the mining sector would allow Egypt to increase the value generated from its natural resources by expanding beyond extraction into processing and manufacturing, Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said.

Discussions during the meeting covered Egypt’s strong gold potential and strategic position as a Middle East–Africa hub, backed by an  infrastructure capable of supporting new exploration ventures.

Participants also discussed energy requirements, raising questions about electricity demand and arrangements to secure supplies for mining projects. In response, Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, said the government is working to provide power for investment projects in line with their nature, development stages, and specific needs.

Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, highlighted promising opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the mining and industrial sectors, outlining several models that connect raw mineral materials with manufacturing industries.

Finally, Madbouly said the government remains open to investors’ proposals in the mining sector and is ready to meet with participants, in coordination with relevant ministers, to discuss potential proposals and partnership frameworks.
