Libya’s Oil Production Comes to a Halt

Libya’s El Shahara and El Feel oilfields were shut down on January 19 by a group representing the southern Libyan tribesmen, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

The oilfields’ closure has led to halting Libya’s oil production during a major international peace summit for Libya in Berlin.

It is worth noting that this closure came after shutting down the eastern Libyan port, resulting in curbing the country’s oil exports which in turns halved its national output of crude oil.

With an eye on Libya’s oil production rates, it reached approximately 1.3 million barrels per day (mmbbl/d), noting that El Sharara has a production of about 300,000 barrels per day of crude oil (bbl/d) and El Feel produces around 70,000 bbl/d.
