Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), a subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), has awarded Honeywell UOP a contract in Al-Zour Refinery, Reuters reported.
Honeywell UOP will provide a range of process technologies, design services, key equipment, and production systems for the expansion of its refining and petrochemical complex at Al-Zour Refinery, which is located in South Kuwait City.
“This will be the largest integrated refinery and petrochemicals plant ever constructed in Kuwait,” said Honeywell UOP CEO John Gugel.
The refinery is expected to go into operation by 2020, with a production capacity of an estimated at 615,000 barrels per day (b/d), which will increase Kuwait’s overall refining capacity to over 1.5 million b/d.
Honeywell UOP will also provide solutions to produce clean-burning fuels and other petrochemicals.
