Iran Signs $21b Export Deals with Russia

Iran has signed export deals with Russia worth $21b including production and procurement of satellite-related equipment and Superjets, Press TV reported.

“We hope to witness the implementation of agreements between Iranian and Russian companies as soon as possible,” Iran’s Deputy Industry Minister, Valiollah Afkhami-Rad said at the Russian-Iranian exhibition in Tehran.

Some 80 Russian companies including oil and gas operators and aviation technology holders participated at the event.

Russia’s Energy Minister, Alexander Novak said that Tehran was Moscow’s “most important economic and trade partner,” having previously devised a package of projects worth between $35b to $40b.

According to Russia and India Report, Russian President, Vladimir Putin visited Iran in November 2015 to hold talks with President Hassan Rouhani, agreeing with him on 35 priority joint projects in a bid to boost industrial cooperation.

Russia has been capitalizing on the July nuclear deal with Iran promising removal of all sanctions.
