Iran will provide oil needed for some Shell refineries in South Africa once an agreement has been made, National Iranian Oil Company’s (NIOC) International Affairs Director, Mohsen Qamsari, said, announcing that talks are underway between Iran and the British company, the Trend News Agency wrote.
As for the amount of oil likely to be sold to Shell, Qamsari said it will probably be set at the amount dating to the time that sanctions were imposed on Iran, which is about 100,000b/d.
The NIOC official emphasized that so far several talks have been conducted with Royal Dutch Shell, British Petroleum) as well as Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) of Malaysia about oil supplies to South Africa; while “overall, Iran will supply a portion of oil required by Shell’s refineries in South Africa,” the Mehr News Agency informed.
