Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) drilled and completed nine new wells and seven repair wells using eight drilling rigs, Afshar Arefi Sigarodi, Head of ICOFC’s drilling department, announced, according to a press release.
Sigarodi added that ICOFC has minimized drilling time and increased the drilling rate at a number of operational sites such as Dehloran, Saadat Abad and Tabnak.
Sigarodi also commented on the successful development of ultra deep highly deviated wells saying, “The drilling department succeeded in drilling a well at a depth of 4700 meters (TVD = 4400 Mt) and a 75 degree angle (Highly Deviated).” This will enable the company to drill advanced wells with high recovery rates.
At present, ICOFC supplies almost half of the country’s gas demand.
