Iran Announces Post-Sanction ENI Drilling Project

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) announced it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the subsidiaries of the Italian Company ENI to launch drilling of 40 wells in the South Azadegan oilfield, IRNA reported.

NIDC Vice-President, Mohammad-Reza Takayedi said that 25 wells in the oilfield had been completed, together with 12 wells drilled in the Joint Southern Yaran field.

According to Trend News Agency, in the Azar oilfield, only three wells have been drilled by NIDC so far due to geological problems and depth of the field. The stalled Kish gas field drilling was resumed in March 2015.

Takayedi explained that the joint project with ENI would be implemented following removal of sanctions.
