Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity, met with Huawei’s Regional Corporate Head, Michael Li, to discuss Egypt’s future plans to transition to a smart electricity grid, Al Masry Al Youm reported.

They both looked into new bilateral cooperation methods, in the presence of a number of ministry leads.

Shaker praised Huawei’s progress in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and emphasized the cooperation between Egypt’s electricity sector and several Chinese companies, as he pointed out to the vision for turning the current electricity grid to a smart one that takes in more generated capacities.

Li praised the ministry’s rapid developments in establishing a strong structure for a smart grid, ensuring that the most important factor is to train calibers who can establish this project.

Moreover, he presented the company’s activities across the world which include modern technologies connected to the smart grid in addition to the different training fields.
