Halliburton has secured a bundled well construction and completions contract from Eni for the Cronos ultra-deepwater gas development in Block 6 of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), expanding the US oilfield services company’s role in the Eastern Mediterranean offshore gas sector, according to a press release by Halliburton.
Under the multi-year contract, Halliburton will provide integrated drilling, well construction, automation, and completion services for Cronos exploration and development wells. The scope includes drilling fluids, directional drilling, LOGIX automation and remote operations, cementing, surface well testing, and coiled tubing.
Halliburton said bundling the services is intended to reduce operational interfaces and improve execution certainty during the ultra-deepwater development. The company will draw on its existing infrastructure and regional capabilities in Cyprus to support the campaign.

The Halliburton award follows Eni and TotalEnergies’ Final Investment Decision (FID) in July 2026 to develop Cronos, Cyprus’ first gas development. Eni operates Block 6 with a 50% stake, while TotalEnergies holds the remaining 50%.
Cronos contains more than 3 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas initially in place, with production expected to reach a plateau of around 500 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d). The development is targeted to deliver first gas in 2028.
For Halliburton, the Cronos award adds to a broader series of integrated deepwater contracts secured in 2026. In July, the company won integrated drilling and completions contracts for TotalEnergies’ Granmorgu deepwater development offshore Suriname, deploying digital and automation technologies across well construction activities.
