Gupco completed the drilling of an exploration well, GS277-A5, in order to explore along the eastern part of the GS277 field, sources at Gupco told Egypt Oil & Gas.
During the drilling operations the pressure of the layers was recorded, which proved the existence of a high-pressure reservoir separate from the current field.
A new seismic survey was also conducted to map out the form and extension of the layers, which was placed on production at an initial rate of 2,000 b/d of oil during for 2015.
According to preliminary estimates of the reserves 4 million barrels of oil will be added to existing production of the GS277 Field residing in Gulf of Suez.
