Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO Company) is covering 60% of the gas needs in electricity power plants through the volumes it injects in the national grid, an official at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad.
Electricity power plants consume around 120mcm/d of gas during the summer months. Egypt provides part of the plants’ demands from local production and secures the remaining demands from the imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargos, which will be reduced starting 2018 by the time Zohr and North Alexandria fields start producing.
GASCO is committed in delivering gas to its customers in the industrial sector and the electricity sector. The company owns gas transmission pipelines extending across many Governorates, the source at EGAS added.
