Firms Need GMRA Approval to Import Gas: El Molla

Companies approved by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to import natural gas must obtain approvals from the Gas Market Regulatory Authority (GMRA), Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla told Al Mal.

El Molla’s words came on the sidelines of the Africa 2018 Forum, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh on December 8 and 9.

EGAS gave preliminary approval to Fleet Energy, BB Energy and TAQA Arabia back in 2017.

Russian gas company Rosneft has also applied for a gas import license. The company obtained preliminary approvals and sent enquiries to the ministry about whether it will need to set up a joint venture majority-owned by the Egyptian government.
