Energean Oil & Gas, an exploration and production company focused on the Mediterranean and North Africa, has appointed Dr. Medhat Tarakhan as Country General Manager in Egypt, reported Oil & Gas Financial Journal.
Tarakhan is a reservoir characterization specialist, and an AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists) certified professional petroleum geologist, who has spent more than 30 years in the exploration and oilfield development sector. He has previously worked for BP, Repsol, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Madison PetroGas, Kuwait Energy, PGNiG and Rayton in projects that led to over 58 commercial oil discoveries in the Middle East and Africa.
Recently the company began a 2D seismic survey in its West Kom Ombo concession area. The survey will be in support of the company’s new $6m investment program in Egypt. The survey will begin in December and 400 km of 2D seismic will be acquired ahead of the drilling of two new wells planned for the summer of 2016.
