Mideast Communication Systems (MCS), a leading regional IT solutions provider, and The East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), a regional platform for structured dialogue on natural gas policies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch a Cybersecurity Capacity Building Program specifically designed for the EmpowerMed Women Network, an initiative founded by EMGF to support women’s empowerment and leadership.
Through this MoU, MCS will deliver specialized cybersecurity awareness and training that provides members of the EmpowerMed Women Network with the practical skills and knowledge they need to navigate today’s digital challenges confidently. By building cybersecurity capacity, the initiative empowers women to strengthen digital resilience and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the sector’s future.
“We believe that capacity building is the cornerstone of cybersecurity, particularly in strategic sectors such as energy. We are pleased to collaborate with the East Mediterranean Gas Forum in this pioneering initiative,” Tarek Shabaka, CEO of MCS said.
For his part, Osama Mobarez, Secretary General of EMGF, said that women’s empowerment is a top strategic priority for EMGF and expressed his happiness with the collaboration.
EMGF has been an active participant in several workshops and programs to improve natural gas literacy, coupling it with digital knowledge. On September 18, 2023 it hosted a workshop titled “Leveraging Technology to Accelerate a Decarbonized Future for the East Med”.
Earlier this year, on May 7-8, EMGF hosted a workshop titled “Reenergizing the East Med: A Collaborative Workshop to Drive Implementation, Growth and Efficiency”.
