Electricity Ministry Estimates Gas Demands at 4.4 bcf/d in Summer

The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity’s natural gas needs for its power plants is estimated to be 4.4 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) during summer, a source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Al Borsa Newspaper.

The consumption of electricity-generating plants increased gradually to reach the current 3.

4 bcf/d, compared to 3.3 bcf/d consumed in March, the source said.

The plants’ consumption of natural gas in summer decreased compared to past years due to the new stations’ high efficiency.

The Egyptian electricity sector consumes around 61% of the country’s total natural gas consumption.
