El Molla, SAP Push for Unified Digital System in Petroleum Sector

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with leading figures from German multinational software corporation SAP to discuss the latest developments in digital transformation efforts of the energy sectors in Egypt and the region,

The meeting was with SAP Executive Board Member and Financial Director Luka Mucic and his accompanying delegation. It focused on digital transformation projects in the petroleum sector within the framework of the seventh pillar of the sector’s Modernization program.

The meeting further discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the international company and benefit from its expertise, most notably the distinguished technological solutions it provides to facilitate digital transformation in the petroleum sector.

During the meeting, El Molla stated that the petroleum sector is currently working on implementing an ambitious project to link all holding bodies and companies, as well as their subsidiaries, in a unified digital system. This system aims to unify data and information sources, support quick decision-making, and facilitate efficient operations.

El Molla pointed out the importance of accelerating the full digital transformation processes in all companies, linking them to the Petroleum Authority and holding companies, benefiting from the best successful global models in this field.  He also highlighted the need to align common goals with SAP to speed up the completion of the unified digital system.

Meanwhile, Mucic reviewed the company’s activity in Egypt and the constructive cooperation with several sectors in the country to implement digital projects. He pointed to the company’s endeavor to build a large digital storage system (Cloud Storage) in Egypt in line with the Egyptian state’s direction to expand digital transformation projects.

Mucic also highlighted the company’s appreciation for the cooperation and work with the Egyptian petroleum sector and the great efforts being made by both sides to implement the complete digital transformation project. He added that the company provides integrated technological solutions in this context, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and advanced applications for data analysis. This contributes strongly to providing a deep and comprehensive vision of the work system and supports cooperation between all parties within the system itself.
