Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, said that the Egyptian petroleum sector is successfully implementing the upgrading and development plan of refining companies.
This came during El Molla’s visit to Alexandria Petroleum Company to check the production units’ workflow in the presence of the First Undersecretary of the Ministry for Petroleum, Eng. Mohamed Taher, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC ), Eng. Tarek El Hadidi, and Deputy Chairmen of Planning and Refining, Eng. Alaa Hegazy and Eng. Zohdy Maarof.
In addition, El Molla stated that boosting the efficiency of refineries is an essential element to achieve the Egyptian national plan towards a regional energy hub.
He also called for fast completion of the implementation of the new projects and solving any problems in the existing production units to operate at full operational capacity and secure the growing domestic demand of petroleum products.
During the visit, the minister and his entourage listened to a briefing by Mr. Nabil Afifi, the chairman of Alexandria Petroleum Company, explaining that the refining capacity of the company have risen since the start of its activity in 1954 from 250,000t to up to 5mt per year.
