Oil minister Tarek El Molla discussed launching an electronic portal for auction areas offered in Egypt with Baker Hughes GE president for digital solutions, Matthias Heilmann, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

The partners signed a cooperation agreement to launch the portal  on the sidelines of the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2018) in February, but details about launching dates and the budget have not yet been disclosed.

El Molla said that the portal is part of the ministry’s broader modernization program which aims to build a strong digital infrastructure for the petroleum sector.

Heilmann believes that using digital solutions to market Egypt’s investment opportunities is a significant development for the energy sector.
