Egypt’s Gas Consumption to Reach 9 bcf/d in 2020/21

Egypt’s average consumption of natural gas will grow to reach around 9 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by 2020/21 because of Egypt’s industrial development plan, a source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Daily News Egypt.

The source explained that the development plan involves raising the levels of electricity production, increasing gas-powered cars, and connecting more households to the national gas grid.

The country’s natural gas consumption will increase gradually from 6.3 bcf/d in fiscal year (FY) 2018/19, to 7.5 bcf/d in 2019/20, according to the source.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s natural gas output reached 6.75 bcf/d during September 2018.

The country plans to reach natural gas self-sufficiency as it links production from Zohr, North Alexandria, Burullus, and Nooros fields.
