The Egyptian Cabinet has approved amending some annexes in the natural gas law number 217 for year 1980 during the Cabinet’s meeting number 110, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The amendments stated that the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), along with one of the public sector companies, based on the management of the gas activity either by itself, through its subsidiaries, under their supervision or the companies contracted with them for this purpose, shall be responsible for supplying, delivering and marketing natural gas to the residential areas, factories, and power plants decided by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The amendments come in light of the country’s keenness to expand the delivery of natural gas to the various governorates across Egypt and to overcome any obstacles that may be faced during the work of the Egyptian Holding Natural Gas Company (EGAS) as the body managing the natural gas activity.
