A spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed El Yamani, stated that the minister, Mohamed Shaker, received Egypt’s ambassador to Burundi, Abeer Bassiouny, to discuss Burundi’s energy needs to run maintenance work for 120 electricity distribution transformers and the importation of 10 extra transformers, according to recommendations put forward by an Egyptian delegation to the country, reported Al Mal News.
El Yamani added that the minister and ambassador also reviewed the possibility of developing a maintenance workshop for electric transformers, in addition to continued occupational training of Burundi’s energy related human capital in Egypt.
The ministry’s directives with the country’s ambassador to Burundi aimed to encourage further collaboration between the two countries in the energy field.
