Egypt aims to increase local natural gas output by 11.8% at the end of 2019, official sources at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) stated, according to Al Mal Newspaper.
The North African country currently produces around 6.8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of natural gas, and targets to reach 7.6 bcf/d by the end of 2019 and 8 bcf/d by H1 2020, the sources expected.
The targeted increase in Egypt’s natural gas production is set to boost the country’s natural gas export levels in the upcoming period.
Local production increase is linked to the development of new natural gas projects in the Mediterranean Sea, including Zohr gas field, the source pointed out.
