Egypt steps on the gas

Egypt expects its natural gas output to rise to 56 billion cubic meters in 2007, an 11% rise on 2006’s production, the country’s Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmy said today.

Egyptian production of oil and condensate would rise to 670,000 barrels per day in 2007, from its current level of 650,000 bpd, he told an energy conference in the Italian city of Ravenna.
“In 2008 we will add 40,000 to have more than 700,000 barrels per day,” Reuters quoted him as saying.
