Egypt, South Sudan Explore Oil and Gas Cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla discussed with his visiting South Sudanese counterpart Awou Daniel Chuang means of cooperation and Egyptian expertise investment in the field of petroleum, said a press release on Sept 7.

El Molla confirmed the Egyptian welcome and preparation to export the required expertise to contribute to developing the promising petroleum sector, indicating that the fruitful cooperation in the field of oil will, in turn, bolster the overall bilateral ties.

The Egyptian minister said talks included an agreement to form a joint workgroup comprising experts from both countries to enhance the petroleum cooperation including exploration, refinery, training, and building infrastructure.

For his part, Chuang expressed his appreciation to Egypt that seeks to raise the development rate and utilizes oil treasures in his country by providing all the expertise that Egyptian companies possess.

Meanwhile, Chuang invited El Molla to attend a conference about oil and energy in South Sudan on October 29.
