Egypt Restores Normal Power Load Reduction After Grid Maintenance

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy have announced the completion of procedures to reduce electrical loads for an additional hour, which was limited to June 4th only, as was scheduled. This load reduction came in light of preventive maintenance work for part of the national gas grid with electricity consumption rates increase, which is caused by rising temperatures.

The two ministries confirmed that things will return to normal according to the load reduction system that was in effect before, as this measure was necessary to maintain the operational efficiency of the national grid for electricity transmission and the national grid for natural gas.

Regarding pumping natural gas to fertilizer factories, it is noteworthy that, starting June 6th, gas supplies will gradually return to the factories following June 4th’s temporary measure to reduce supplies and direct their share of gas to power generation stations in light of preventive maintenance work on the networks.
