Egypt has signed a tripartite agreement with Lebanon and Syria to export 650 million cubic meters per year (mmcm/y) of natural gas from Egypt to Lebanon through Syria, Reuters reported.
The natural gas will be transported through the Arab Gas Pipeline (AGP) to reach Lebanon’s northern Deir Ammar power plant which will add some 450 megawatts equivalent to around four extra hours of power per day to the grid, according to Reuters.
Previously in May, the Lebanese cabinet announced that it has authorized the Energy Ministry to sign final contracts for supplying natural gas from Egypt to Lebanon and Syria through the Arab Gas Pipelines.
