The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) launched a tender to buy 12 shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to be delivered during the first quarter of 2018, Amwal Al Ghad reports.
EGAS is seeking nine cargoes of LNG to be processed through Egypt’s Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRUs) and three shipments to be processed through the Jordanian FSRU in Aqaba.
The deadline to submit bids is October 29th.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources spent between $2.2 billion and $2.4 billion on LNG imports during fiscal year (FY) 2016/2017, an official at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Al Mal News. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, estimates that expenditures will fall to $1.8 billion in FY 2017/2018.
EGAS has been importing 140,000 cubic feet of natural gas per month via the Jordanian FRSU.
