Egypt, Iraq Mull Oil Joint venture

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, discussed the possibility of establishing a joint Egyptian-Iraqi company and to facilitate the participation of Egyptian companies in oil and gas projects in Iraq, according to a press release.

This came during a meeting with the Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo, Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi. Both parties discussed ways to boost bilateral ties between the two countries in the oil and gas industry. The discussion also addressed the expansion of Egypt’s petroleum sector companies in implementing infrastructure projects in Iraq and the possibility of establishing an Egyptian-Iraqi joint venture.

El Molla affirmed the readiness of Egyptian companies to take part in various industry-related activities in Iraq. Both parties agreed to encourage the transfer of Egyptian expertise to the Iraqi side when it comes to the refining industry and its operations to meet the energy needs of Iraq. Al-Dulaimi stated that his country’s government supports cooperation with Egypt, stressing the importance of seeking Egyptian expertise in the oil and gas industry.
