Egypt hosts the first factory in the Middle East to produce oil and gas pumps

Eng. Sameh Fahmy, Minister of Petroleum, accompanied by General Seif El Din Galal, Suez Governor visited the Egyptian – German joint factory for producing oil and gas pumps at Suez city, with investments of about L.E. 150 million.
It is the first factory to produce oil and gas pumps in the Middle East, in which the Petroleum Sector’s companies participate with 33%, the German Ruherpumpen Co. with 67% and will start production next September.
Enppi and Petrojet were appointed to undertake all the engineering designs and implementation.
Fahmy added that, in addition to producing pumps, the factory’s activity is to include the maintenance services to all types of pumps utilized in Egypt, which exceed 6,000 pumps along with providing the required spare parts for them.
Also, he mentioned that the factory will provide direct job opportunities to the citizens of Suez City that may reach 150 direct job opportunities and 500 indirect ones.
Eng. Yasser El Maghrabi, the company’s managing director, pointed out that the factory’s construction is divided into three phases, the first one is in progress. The production of the 1st pump for Gasco will start by the end of September 2007 with a 25% of local manufacturing.
After the completion of the three phases, the factory’s production capacity will reach 400 pumps annually, to meet the local demand and export to the Middle East and African countries.
