The Egyptian government has connected 600,000 households to the national gas grid in Egypt in fiscal year (FY) 2016/2017. The current rate shows a slowdown of growth in comparison to the previous FY’s 700,000 households, a source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad.
The oil and gas sector was originally planning to deliver gas to 750,000 household in FY 2016/2017, but it managed to pump it to only 600,000 residential units across the North African Country.
Increasing the rate of gas delivery to households would help the government to decrease the allocations spent on butane subsidies, and reduce butane monthly imports bill, the source pointed out.
