Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab via video conference to discuss investment opportunities and ways to enhance cooperation, especially in the field of energy and mines.
The meeting focused specifically on the hydrocarbon industry, especially investments and partnerships in the fields of exploration and discovery, development and exploitation, petrochemistry, as well as marketing and distribution of liquid petroleum gas – fuels and hydrogen.
On this occasion, the Algerian minister called on Egyptian companies to take advantage of the available opportunities for investment and partnership in these fields and to benefit from the advantages offered by the new hydrocarbons law.
The two ministers also discussed several topics of particular importance regarding collaboration in the mining sector, including phosphate manufacturing industries, the production of phosphate fertilizers, and the exchange of expertise.
Meanwhile, El Molla expressed his satisfaction with the strong brotherly relations between the two countries and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and mines. He also suggested the formation of joint working teams to consult as soon as possible regarding the areas that were discussed and to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies with the transfer of knowledge and training.
The two sides also welcomed the ongoing dialogue process within the framework of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).
